Marketing only works if there’s a connection made between the brand and the consumer. If Mr. Brand operates a taco shop but continues to promote his guava smoothies on Facebook, no amount of money thrown at marketing strategies will improve his goal of building a successful business. 

Start here––clearly define who, what, when, where, and why (we’ll get to how later). This will save you and your target audience time, energy, and confusion in the long run. 

Tip 2: Marketing Plan

We’ve noted several times before that planning is the key to success. The second most common mistake committed by good-hearted business owners is a lack of planning on their marketing strategy. 

I may be going out on a limb here, but if 150 customers walk into Mr. Brand’s taco shop and he only has enough food to feed 100 of them, 50 people are going to leave in a bad mood. Without a good marketing plan, your brand will suffer to satisfy its customers. 

For success in marketing, you need to have a good marketing plan. It’s the thing that will get you from point A to point B, with little resistance in the middle. Your marketing plan will set the foundation for everything else you do as a brand––including social media campaigns, written blogs, video concepts, logo designs, website treatments, and more.
