At Inner Action Media, hospitality is one of our core values because we believe people should feel welcomed, valued and cared for.
That may sound simple, but in practice, hospitality requires intentionality.
It is how we receive clients, teammates and partners. It is our attention to detail, our generosity and our desire to make others feel seen and respected.
Recently, we had the opportunity to live out that value by hosting the Morgantown Area Partnership Business After Hours at IAM.
More Than Opening Our Doors
Business After Hours events are built around connection. They bring members of the local business community together for networking, conversation and shared momentum.
For us, hosting was not just about opening our doors.
It was about creating an environment where people could feel comfortable, start meaningful conversations and experience the kind of connection that helps our community grow.
“Hosting the Morgantown Area Partnership Business After Hours wasn’t just about opening our doors. It was about creating an environment where people felt genuinely welcomed,” said Jason Allen, the member of the Inner Action Media team who led the event. “We believe hospitality is one of the most overlooked business strategies. When you make people feel comfortable, valued and connected, conversations happen naturally, relationships grow stronger and opportunities follow. That’s the kind of experience we strive to create at Inner Action Media every day.”
Those ideas show up in more than one evening of networking. They shape the way we approach our work every day.
A Celebration with Intention
What made this Business After Hours especially meaningful was the theme behind it.
With America’s 250th anniversary on the horizon, we wanted the evening to feel like a celebration of connection, community and shared history. Every detail was inspired by that theme, from the décor and atmosphere to the food, drinks and experience.
Guests were welcomed by an Uncle Sam impersonator, adding a fun and memorable touch as people arrived.
The bar featured America-themed cocktails, beer and soda, while the menu included brisket, pulled pork, charcuterie and themed desserts.
Even the cake carried the spirit of the evening.
Those details were fun, but they were not random. They were part of a larger effort to create an experience that felt thoughtful, warm and worth remembering.
That is the difference hospitality can make.
It turns an event into an experience.
Hospitality Is Paying Attention
Hospitality is not just about being friendly.
It is about paying attention.
When a client walks into a meeting, we want them to feel like we are ready for them. When a partner shares a challenge, we want them to feel heard. When a teammate brings an idea to the table, we want them to know their voice matters.
The same principle guided the way we approached Business After Hours. We wanted people to walk in and immediately feel that care had gone into the evening. From the theme to the food to the flow of the event, every detail was meant to help people feel comfortable, welcomed and part of something bigger.
That kind of care does not happen by accident. It requires preparation, thoughtfulness and a willingness to put people first.
In a business setting, those details matter. They communicate value before a word is ever spoken.
Business Is Still Built on Relationships
Hosting Business After Hours was a reminder that business is still built on relationships.
Not just emails, campaigns, proposals or meetings, but real people sharing real conversations in real spaces.
For Amy J. Rayman, development director for Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh Morgantown, the evening stood out because of both the environment and the people behind it.
“I almost didn’t make the BAH at Inner Action Media because another meeting ran long, but I’m so glad it worked out for me to be there,” Rayman said. “Having been a fan of the IAM team and their work from afar for a while, I was eager to see the space firsthand and meet some of the folks who make it all happen. The energy in the space was immediately welcoming and upbeat. The connections made, even in a brief amount of time, felt meaningful. I’m sure everyone in attendance had a similar experience and gained a greater perspective on what a special resource the company, and its people, is.”
We are grateful to the Morgantown Area Partnership and everyone who joined us for the evening. More than anything, we are thankful for the opportunity to practice what we value.
At IAM, hospitality is not separate from the work; it is part of how we work, how we serve, and how we tell brand stories that connect people.
